Introduction

General Supplies Department is working to develop its performance and improve the mechanism of providing the government’s departments with supplies, through utilizing the experiences of the developed countries, exchanging experiences with the local regional and international institutions, and holding specialized training courses to cope with development in the field of purchasing, information and advanced techniques.

In accordance with its goals stated in supplies Act no. (32) for the year 1993, for purchasing and providing government ministries, departments and public official institutions with supplies, maintaining, and assuring the good usage thereof.

The Dept. is seeking to qualify and provide qualified man- power capable to carry out its job perfectly, for this reason the dept. abided by its strategic plan for training and continuous education, depending on holding specialized training courses for each functional level which help in moving a functional level  to another, after passing the requirements, whereas these courses included all jobs stated in the organizational chart, whether they were technical, administrative or supervisory which helped consequently in improving the performance.

The dept. issued work guide for supplies units working in the government ministries, depts., and public official institutions, adding thereto, it issued legislations and historical development document in public supplies administration since (1932-1995).

It also issued the guide of supplies specifications of common usage, whereas it has been circulated to all government’s depts. Supplies Act No. (32) for the year (1993) and regulations issued accordingly has also been translated from Arabic language into English language . Whereas this Act has been prepared, classified and indexed perfectly to be used by all public official institutions, ministries and departments subject to this Act to abide by, as for purchases and storage .

                The Arabic version of Supplies Act no. (32) for the year 1993, its instructions, regulations and their amendments, should be the authorized reference, to which it must be reffered in all the issues relating to this Act.
